American Medical Association Joins The Push
It's nice to see a few professional organizations joining in the fight to help student loan borrowers... and considering the amount of debt the average doctor has by the time they've finished medical school it's fabulous to see the American Medical Association join us.
You can read about their efforts here. From their website you can contact your representatives to push support for H.R. 3273, the "Consolidation Student Loans Flexibility Act of 2001."
Well, HR 3273 is actually an amendment to the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, so we are awaiting word from the AMA as to which bill they actually do support.

Their Ideas are sound enough for the Medical Profession. But why just try for single interest organization? Why just programs that fit special interest groups and the fact that they are having a hard time attracting graduates to this field? These benefits should apply to anyone wanting to do extra work for the communities and municipalities. There are critical shortages for all types of work or projects that need to be completed. Graduates, willing to work extra no matter what the job is in fulfilling a need should be allowed these benefits towards the student loans as well. These benefits are needed by all who owe debts for student loans. Everyone needs to have the opportunity to reduce these loans by barter of their labor. It is only fair. To allow this type of secular favoritism is just plain discriminatory in nature and not equal for all as it should be.
